California's Great America Update - April 13th, 2024
Peanuts Celebration
I'm back at the park so quickly after my last visit! This time of course it's for Peanuts Celebration at Great America. As always, this event brings us some new entertainment and some new food! Let's jump into it!
Table of Contents
Peanuts Celebration
Let's start with the main event at the park! Peanuts Celebration
Food And Drink
A good amount of food and drink at the park for this event
The bulk of the food were at these temporary stands near Planet Snoopy
And this one
And this one
And finally this one
The Good Grief Burger at Sierra Creek Lodge was the one that piqued my interest the most
So I got it! The verdict? It was a lot. Very tasty but ultimately a little dry, I would've liked to see a lot more tomato sauce on the pizza
This plantain looked fanastic but the stand was closed unfortunately
This churro was delicious however
Overall the food was just about the same as last year but I will say I liked the Juicy Lucy burger better than the Good Grief Burger. But I'm always glad to see the park try new fod, even if they aren't always home runs!
Entertainment
The map for the entertainment and shows
Unfortunately since it was a rainy day, a lot of the entertainment was either not happening or delayed
Like Snoopy's Legendary Rooftop Concert which took place at the Great America Theater Stage
Peanuts on the Go would happen in front of the Carousel
Then the crafts are back inside of Planet Snoopy
The one show I did catch was Music Goes Round and Around
It remains as cute as ever
Decorations and More
Just like last year, there are tons of banners and flags around the park
I liked this entrance area a lot
And the Peanuts gang cutouts are back!
As are plenty of photo opportunities
Oops, looks like Great America wasn't the first park to use this sign!
I thought this was pretty cool, you could talk into the mic and it would make your voice into the teacher voice
Although it was closed, this little stand usually sells souvenirs
Love the kites in the trees!
Although there wasn't a show on this stage as far as I can tell, they did show Peanuts trivia!
And of course, you could take your picture with plenty of characters, including the first time I've ever seen the Woodstock costume
So there weren't any big surprises at the event this year but ultimately, that's okay! The event is a lot of fun and I can't think of a ton of ways I'd improve it. Thanks to the park for putting it on!
Misc Updates
It rained all morning this morning and so the park was operating in a limited fashion. Thankfully not all of these rides stayed close all day, I saw Patriot up and running
At least the ducks enjoyed the weather!
Orbit remains closed and was being actively worked on
A little bit of progress over at All American Cafe
This sign was out front. Looks like the restaurant is adding mobile ordering
A little better look at the inside
The gazebo from a few years ago is back! Looks like there will still be shows at this location plus there's a little more seating for All American Cafe nearby
The bar in Orleans Place has a name! The Hurricane Bar
And finally, there was a dance competition happening at the park. Glad it was indoors and not subject to the weather!
Another good visit to the park! Seems like barring the All American Cafe changes, there isn't a ton happening at the park which is okay! I'll make my way back out to the park probably next month to check out the opening of the summer season!
