Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Update - March 22nd, 2026
My first time back in a long while!
Well well well, it's been a while, hasn't it! I'd like to apologize for my abscence. I ended up travelling a ton ton ton during the summer and fall and then was a little burned out with parks and didn't visit at all in the winter and early spring. But I'm finally back and am planning on visiting these parks we know and love more!
That brings us back to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom! To be totally honest with you, not a whole lot has changed since my last visit (outside of a new animal show!) but it was good to get back. Let's take a look at what has changed since I last visited and get reacquainted with the park!
New "So Flippin Fun" Show
The newest thing since my visit last time is the new dolphin show in Toyota Stadium: So Flippin Fun
The interior of the theater itself has been refreshed
And the show itself is so much more high energy with this DJ playing music essentially the entire time. This is also the dance competition where two audience members compete by dancing with the dolphins
Kids get brought up from the audience to feed the dolphins as well
But it's largely the same show we've had for years!
Expect animal interactions
Splashes
And of course, flips!
Overall, it was a good update to a show that had been getting a little long in the tooth. I love to see the park continue to refresh this stuff that they very well could leave as is.
General Updates
I was surprisingly excited to visit the park again after not having been in a while! Love this view walking in
Let's start near Tava's Jungleland where the former reptile exhibit is still closed
The animal bursery has some new residents
Including a very cute tortoise
And little fox
And interestingly, this little hospital area opened up at the rear of the building
The old stadium near Sidewinder Safari and Cougar Rocks has been torn up
This thing hasn't been used since I've been going in 2019
It'll be very interesting to see what comes of it
The splash pad in Tava was working today which was amazing on such a hot day
Embarrasingly, the snake head on Sidewinder Safari is very broken
The former Toyota stadium next to the current Toyota Stadium still sits empty
And the former Pacific Rim theater wears its Halloween getup year round now apparently
The old souvenir stand near Medusa and Cobra was replaced with more tables
The pengiuns are finally back out!!
Remember the former walrus exhibit that at one point had a coming soon banner on it?
Well, it's still empty
Flash is finally back open!! And of course, as soon as I got in line for it, it broke down. Next time for me!
And finally, the Rainforest Trail sign on the ground is looking pretty terrible at the moment
Rides & Animals
And now let's finish the update like we usually do and focus on some of the rides and animals around the park!
Medusa looks so grand with its new paint!
Messing with a little long exposure work on Monkey Business/Thrilla Gorilla. Turned out pretty good I think!
Despite it being pretty warm today, the animals were pretty active, like the giraffe
Or the cheetahs
Or the lions
Or even the tiger!
Actually, the coolest thing I got to see was a feeding of the gators!
On the ride side, I wish that Kong rode as good as it looks
I really enjoyed taking pictures of it
I have a friend coming out to visit SFDK for the first time and I dread him asking me to ride with him
Might just let him do it alone
I thought about getting on Medusa but with a posted 30 minutes for Fast Lane I decided to pass
Pay no attention to this sign, the rafts got stuck on the lift
For most of the day, everything was just fine!
So good to see this ride running again!!
This one though? I can pass on
Minus the missing head on the sign, I do really like Sidewinder Safari!
Ultimately it was a really fun trip to the park! I really enjoyed being back for the first time in forever and I can promise that this won't be my last update this year like last spring's was! Although I won't be able to make it to CGA's opening day, I will definitely be there the weekend after!
