Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Update - May 31st, 2025
Medusa Reopens!
Another month, another visit to SFDK! This visit wasn't motivated by a festival or anything explicitly new but instead I just wanted to check in on the park at the beginning of the busy summer season and see what's going on! Specifically I wanted to see if our star B&M was back open after its refurb (the answer is yes!) So let's get into it!

Medusa Is Open Again!
Let's start with the biggest news, Medusa is open again!
It's got some fresh new signs
A closer up on the graphics. Love the graphics in the background
The ride itself? Looks fantastic
So good
My only complaint is that I wish it interacted with the path a little more
But otherwise it's riding great! Good for the park for maintaining it
Okay last shot of Medusa!
General Updates
Back in the general updates section of this article, we have the events calendar for this year
Guess what's happening with Flash?
If you guessed nothing, you're right!
Well, I guess there's this in the courtyard. I think that's a LIM?
In weird news, both Monsoon Falls and...
... Whitewater Safari were both closed in the first heat wave of the summer and on a pretty busy day. I would've expected to see them both open on weekends given that summer has unofficially started
The otter exhibit was closed off on my trip today. Just a one off or a sign of things to come? We'll see
If you read that sign, you can see that Seaside Junction is officially weekends only. To be honest with you, it always seemed odd to me with Looney Tunes Seaport nextdoor. I understand that it was a showcase for the Thomas the Tank Engine IP but shouldn't Tava's Jungleland been that and Seaside Junction just kept the Looney Tunes IP?
The former sandwich place/seasonal food place has become a Dippin Dots stand
Here's the menu but it's essentially just a big version of the normal stand
Over in Tava, the former snake hut is blocked off. Hopefully just for a refurb because I love seeing them!
Looking over to the Hotel 666/Sulphur City Society area, we can see a little action
More here... Looks like some of the props are starting to be staged. We still have a few months to go until the event but doesn't hurt to un-mothball stuff early!
I don't remember if I showed this before but Tava has a new sign! Looks good
And finally, Whitewater Safari is still closed and the walkway to the Festival Grounds is now blocked off since FG isn't available year round
One quick animal update! This was the first time I saw the new baby giraffes that the park got earlier this year!
The whole family is very cute!
I can't ever get away from them without getting tons of pictures
The lions were taking a nap on a hot day. Don't blame them!
Over at the nursery there were some cool new graphics over some of the windows
And finally what's the ride situation like going into the busy summer season?
I'm pleased to say that now that Medusa is open again (and discounting the water rides that will open but weren't today) it seemed like every (non-Flash) ride is open! Perfect ahead of the rush of summer! Props to the park to getting everything up and working!
I enjoyed my visit to the park this month! It was much busier than I am used to so I didn't get to do any riding but I really enjoyed just being at the park and soaking up the atmosphere. I'll be back before the summer ends to check out what's going on at the park!
