Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Originally opening as Marine World in Redwood City CA, SFDK opened with no rides and solely featured marine animal shows. Over the years, land animals were added, eventually being renamed Marine World/Africa USA. In 1986, the park moved to Vallejo, where it currently operates. In 1996, the park defaulted on its debts and was taken over by the city of Vallejo who hired Premier Parks to manage the property. For the 1999 season, the park became known as Six Flags Marine World. The park rapidly added new thrill rides and in 2007 was renamed Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.
